Industrial Concrete Pavement Salisbury
Client: M2P Engineering
Location: Salisbury, Brisbane
Project Type: Heavy-duty commercial hardstand construction
Scope: Design, civil works, demolition, stormwater, concrete slab on ground
Project Overview
Terazzo Concrete Construction delivered an Industrual Concrete Pavement for M2P Engineering in Salisbury, transforming the site into a practical, heavy-duty hardstand built for ongoing operational use.
The project covered approximately 2,300m² and included the complete design and construction package, from demolition and civil works through to stormwater infrastructure and construction of the new concrete pavement on ground. Existing raised garden beds and retaining walls were demolished, with spoil removed and disposed of at an approved location.
The project required careful staging, practical planning, and close coordination with the client to keep the site functional while works were underway.
Industrial Concrete Pavement Construction – Challenges
One of the main challenges was delivering a major hardstand upgrade around an operational business with live traffic movements and day-to-day site activity continuing throughout the works.
The client still needed usable space for access, laydown, and ongoing operations, so the project had to be carefully sequenced to minimise disruption while maintaining progress.
How Terazzo Delivered the Solution
Terazzo planned and staged the works so the site could remain functional throughout construction.
To achieve this, we allowed the first two slab sections to cure to a usable stage before shifting works across to the opposite side of the project. This gave the client continued access to part of the hardstand while construction progressed elsewhere.
By working closely with M2P Engineering, we ensured a laydown area was available at all times so their business could continue operating during the build. This practical, collaborative approach helped reduce disruption while keeping the project moving efficiently.
Scope of Works
1. Full design and construction of a 2,300m² heavy-duty commercial hardstand
2. Demolition of existing raised garden beds and retaining walls
3. Bulk earthworks and civil works
4. Installation of stormwater pits and associated drainage works
5. Removal and disposal of spoil to an approved location
6. Construction of concrete pavement on ground including final placement & finishing
7. Staged delivery to support continued client operations
The Outcome
The completed Salisbury hardstand delivered M2P Engineering a durable, fit-for-purpose commercial surface supported by the required civil and stormwater infrastructure.
Just as importantly, the project was delivered in a way that supported the client’s ongoing operations throughout the build. By sequencing the works carefully and maintaining usable site areas, Terazzo helped the client keep working while a major upgrade was completed.
Client Feedback
“Thanks for your help with getting this project done Nick. The landlord was that happy with the result that they asked for your contact details, so don’t be surprised if you hear from them.”

FAQs
How do you upgrade an industrial concrete pavement without shutting down the whole site?
Industrial concrete pavement upgrades can often be staged so the whole site does not need to shut down. Terazzo sequences works in phases to maintain access, usable space, and business continuity wherever possible.
What are the biggest challenges when upgrading an industrial site?
Common challenges include live traffic, restricted access, drainage requirements, demolition works, safety management, and minimising disruption to operations. Terazzo plans around these factors to deliver practical construction outcomes.
Can industrial concrete works be completed while a business is still operating?
Yes, in many cases they can. Terazzo regularly works on live industrial sites and stages construction so clients can continue operating while works progress.
How does Terazzo minimise disruption during industrial concrete construction?
Terazzo minimises disruption through careful staging, clear communication, and practical site planning. This includes maintaining access, preserving laydown areas, and shifting works to keep the site functional during construction.
What should be considered before replacing an industrial yard or pavement?
It is important to consider load requirements, drainage, demolition needs, traffic movement, access constraints, and how the works will affect operations. Early planning helps reduce delays and site disruption.
Does Terazzo handle civil works and drainage as part of industrial pavement projects?
Yes. Terazzo can deliver integrated project scopes that include civil works, demolition, earthmoving, stormwater drainage, subgrade preparation, and concrete pavement construction.
