About Project
The client, Westrex is a leader in liquid and solid waste management. They required a new concrete pit for wastewater treatment.
The client approached Terazzo with a design and had already called for tenders for the project from other concreters. All these quotes were more than their project budget which led Westrex to approach Terazzo for advice on how proceed within budget.
Based on our experience, Terazzo provided an alternative RPEQ certified design and construction solution for a more affordable price and within budget.

What were the challenges?
The waste management industry involved in providing these services is highly regulated and monitored. The construction of concrete pits to service this industry must be done correctly to ensure no leakage and zero risk of contamination to neighbouring areas or local water ways.
How did Terazzo solve these challenges?
Terazzo installed water stops to all construction joints within the concrete pit. Water proofing additives were added to concrete mix designs to mitigate seepage through otherwise porous concrete walls. The result was a highly water-tight concrete pit, fit for this important purpose of correct management and treatment of toxic waste substances.
The client was very happy to have a design and construct solution that met their operational needs and budget.
