Concrete Hardstand Replacement
Project Title
Don Watson Transport Concrete Hardstand
About Project:
Terazzo’s recent project for Don Watson Transport turned 1200 M2 of deteriorated asphalt hardstand in a new Concrete Hardstand Replacement.
The client required a new concrete hardstand for its refrigerated transport operations located at Hemmant, Queensland. Our specifications involved placement of 180mm thick 40MPA concrete with a double layer of re-enforcement mesh.
The project involved cutting and removing an existing, deteriorated asphalt hardstand, that was not withstanding the heavy-duty traffic. The project required excavation and removal of spoil, re-grading, compaction, formwork, steel fixing, concrete placement and finishing.
What were the challenges?
Inclement weather was experienced throughout the project. To meet project timeframes, we managed the final stage of the pour in and around wet conditions.
How did Terazzo solve these challenges?
The experience of the team in knowing what to do in wet conditions allowed us to complete the job on time despite inclement weather. We used plastic covers during heavy downpours that were removed when feasible to keep working.
Project result
An excellent outcome was achieved for a long-standing client. The hardstand replacement will service the busy operation for decades to come.
